Meet Captain Bubby

Captain Bubby is the person who makes this trip so unique and you will find it an amazing experience to take one of his bespoke tours and meet this rather special local resident.

Captain Bubby is a Florida naturalist who has lived in southwest Florida for over 40 years. Studying, enjoying and protecting the local wildlife, natural habitats and Gulf ecosystems are his life’s work, so what he doesn’t know about the barrier islands around Fort Myers including Sanibel Island, Captiva, Pine Island, Cayo Costa and Cabbage Key is really not worth knowing.

Bubby is one of less than 1500 people who have been acknowledged on the Honor Roll of Florida Master Naturalists. He shares his local knowledge along with plenty of humorous local tales as part of his IsLAND Tours, bringing the area’s inhabitants vividly to life in an entertaining and unforgettable trip.

Nature Tours, Pirate Adventures and Scavenger Hunts

Every IsLAND Tour is different as Bubby designs each private concierge tour specifically around the interests of the individual customer. Let him know your interests about the area’s birds, history, plants and marine life or just let him take you on a magical mystery tour as he introduces you to Florida off-the-beaten path.

Captain Bubby’s IsLAND Tours are ideal for local Fort Myers residents who have been there, done that and are looking for a new experience in their own back yard. However, visitors fortunate enough to discover Captain Bubby’s IsLAND Tours will get an immense amount of pleasure as they learn about the area from this knowledgeable docent.

These unique Island Tours are ideal for a wedding party or family group celebrating a special occasion. Enterprising businesses looking for a social team-building exercise or a way to say thank you to their top employees can call Captain Bubby’s IsLAND Tours and book their own special trip.

Captain Bubby’s IsLAND Tours are All Uniquely different

Bubby’s bespoke tours can include the beaches around Fort Myers, the barrier islands, or the history and natural highlights of Lee County. These specialty tours are geared to suit all ages and are certainly never boring. They may take the form of a pirate scavenger hunt (complete with map and eyepatch!), a wildlife safari or whatever the paying guest may want to see and do.

You will discover the plant known as “Florida’s Postcard”, see a “Walking Tree” and learn which bird looks like it is wearing bright yellow slippers on a narrated drive along Ding Darling Wildlife Drive, or wherever your private tour may lead. Learn about shelling on a guided walk along Sanibel’s beaches, meet the Calusa Indians that once inhabited these islands and learn little known facts on your Sanibel Island Tour.  Pricing is as individual as each personalised tour, so call for details.
