Celebrating Mother’s Day at Home

By Laurén Ettinger

While traditional Mother’s Day plans like lavish brunches, garden concerts, and spending time with your family may not be possible this year, you can still make mom feel special and appreciated. Check out these easy (and often free or low-cost) ideas for a perfect Mother’s Day at home.

Mother’s Day Coupons

Make Mom a gift that will keep on giving throughout the year–Mother’s Day coupons. Create your own or download and print Must Do Visitor Guides‘ free Mother’s Day coupon template with four different coupons your Mom can redeem. Try things like a coupon for the chore you like the least, an hour of alone time, a hand or foot massage, a laundry free weekend, movie night when mom gets to pick what movie you watch, etc.

Read Mom a Story

For Mom’s with young kids of reading age, it may be a nice change of pace for them to read her a story in bed! This one is nice for Mom and great for young minds.

Allow Mom Uninterrupted Bath Time

Mom is probably feeling more stressed than ever this year. Let your Mom create her own spa-like oasis for an uninterrupted and relaxing bath.

Give Mom a Spa Day

Take Mom’s bath time up a notch with a full at home spa day! You could give her a hand and foot massage, make DIY facemasks, or give her a mani-pedi. Don’t forget to light a nice scented candle and give her a glass of cucumber water.

Serve Mom Breakfast in Bed

Breakfast in bed is a classic for a reason! Make your mom her favorite breakfast dish (or something new she has been interested to try) and bring it to her in bed! You could even schedule a virtual mimosa brunch with extended family.

Take Mom on a Virtual Garden Tour

Mother’s Day is at the time of year when everything is beautiful and in bloom. Take Mom or Grandma (or both!) on a virtual tour through some of the world’s most beautiful gardens like Claude Monet’s in France, the Kew Garden in England, or Keukenhof in Amsterdam.

Watch a Movie Together

If you do not live in the same place as your Mom, decide to watch the same movie at the same time or use an app like Netflix Party that allows you to video chat while you watch.
