Whitney’s Bait and Tackle is backed by years of local experience, making it the first port of call for anyone passionate about fishing on Sanibel Island. Whitney Jones, who has 20 years’ experience as a master rod builder, fishing guide, and lifelong angler himself, founded this friendly local store at 1554 Periwinkle Way. He has gradually built up a team of staff who share his passion for fishing, which means that when you go in search of tackle or bait, you get some sound information and local advice for free – just ask!

Whitney’s Bait and Tackle Services

Whitney’s offers all the services you would expect of any top-notch bait and tackle shop. In addition, you’ll find rod and reel repairs, fly and spinning gear, the latest lures, plugs and scented jerkbaits, and a host of other fascinating fishing accessories. It’s certainly worth browsing the well-stocked shop to pick up new ideas and tips along with some friendly expert advice.

Fishing enthusiasts can check out the selection of Star and Temple Fork Rods and some of the top branded spinning reels including Shimano, Penn and Diawa. Fly fishermen are spoiled with an unrivalled selection of flies hand-tied by local guides who are familiar with local waters and know exactly what works best.

The huge wooden deck and open sliders create a pleasant out-on-the-water atmosphere as you browse the displays of tackle, clothing and flies. Open daily from 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Whitney’s Bait and Tackle is dedicated to meeting the needs of local fishing enthusiasts and welcomes visitors of all levels of experience and ability.
