A great way to see and experience Naples and Marco Island, head to Scootertown and the Island Bike Shop. They provide bicycle and scooter rentals along with all the add-ons you could possibly need for exploring the area.
The Island Bike Shop Fleet
Scootertown and the Island Bike Shop have a whole fleet of two-wheel vehicles at their two locations on Bald Eagle Drive on Marco Island or at Thomasson Drive in Naples. The Island Bike Shop has been in business on Marco Island for over 25 years and prides itself on offering a friendly and affordable service for both local and visiting cyclists. Both shops are owned and run by the Walthour family, several of whom are featured in the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame.
Kids bikes, road bikes, classic cruisers and even tandems can be rented for exploring the area. Add-ons include pull-behind trailers for carrying up to two children (or your picnic lunch and beach towels if you prefer!). Trailer bikes are ideal for slightly older children, or the whole family can pedal with any easy-to-manage four-seater Surrey. The stores even provide beach wheel chairs with special balloon wheels for rolling over sand. All rental bicycles come with a helmet and bike lock. Cruiser bicycles also include a basket upfront to carry your gear.
If you prefer something a little faster, a 49cc motor scooter from Scootertown is a cool way to get around. Ideal to carry one or two people, scooter drivers must be 18 years or above and have a valid drivers license. Scooters are equipped with a small rear basket to help you transport a bit of beach gear or make a lite run to the store for goodies or souvenirs.
Places to Ride Around Marco Island
So, you’ve made your reservation and picked up your bike/scooter, or had it delivered for an additional fee. Where would you like to go?
Marco Island has plenty of wide cycle paths allowing cyclists to explore the island safely and easily. The Island Bike Shop has free route maps for you to choose a cycle route to suit you, whether you are a rusty amateur or a seasoned pro. You can even join a guided bicycle tour around Marco Island or Naples with Marci who runs Naples Bicycle Tours.
