As America celebrates its 250th birthday, Sanibel Island invites residents and visitors alike to come together for a patriotic day filled with community spirit, island tradition, and red, white, and blue celebration. Independence Day on Sanibel Island begins at 7 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast followed by a 4^th of July Parade at 9 a.m. Parade route begins at Island Inn Rd to Tarpon Bay Rd to Periwinkle Way to Casa Ybel Rd. Spectators encouraged to arrive early for seating; bring lawn chairs or blankets, bottled water, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Immediately following the parade there is a free 4th of July celebration at Jerry’s Shopping Center, 1700 Periwinkle Way from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Sanibel Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel Captiva Rd.

From 12 to 3 p.m. 46^th Annual Friends of Randy Road Rally Timbers Restaurant, 703 Tarpon Bay Rd.

Enjoy The Dunes 4^th of July BBQ Buffet at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club, 949 Sandcastle Rd. from 5 to 10 p.m.

July 4^th fireworks display launched at dusk from the beach at the north end terminus of Bailey Road. Best viewing of the fireworks display is from the Sanibel Causeway Islands and bayside of Sanibel. No roadside or illegal parking permitted.
