Bowditch Point Park & Beach

Bowditch Point Park encompasses the entire end of Estero Island (17 acres) and has shoreline on both the Gulf of Mexico and the back-bay, or Matanzas Pass.

Beach Access at Bowditch Point Park

Bowditch Point Park beach is access is open year-round from sunrise to ½ hour past sunset.

The beach is accessible for individuals with disabilities from the parking area to the Gulf of Mexico. There is also an accessible boat dock. Don’t let Florida’s hot, humid weather spoil your visit. Florida Sunshine Survival Tips.

Alcohol on the beach is prohibited.

Cars are prohibited, no driving on the beach.

Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be leashed and owners are required to pick up after their pets.

Bowditch Point Park Amenities

There are 10 acres of preserve/restorative area with walking trails, butterfly gardens, and benches for taking in the beauty and serenity of the area.

Other amenities include BBQ grills, shaded picnic areas, day boat dock, paddlecraft launch, concessions offering food and beverages, restrooms, and changing facilities.

Things to do at Bowditch Point Park

Take the walking trail through the preserve area for a great opportunity to bird watch and impressive panoramic views of Estero Bay.

Free guided walks are offered seasonally Tuesday and Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., except holidays. Learn the importance of barrier islands and how they help protect the mainland.

The free day docks feature 10 slips for boats up to 28-feet in length and a paddlecraft launch onto the Great Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail. Overnight dockage and fishing is not permitted from the docks.

A saltwater fishing license is required to fish from shore.

Bowditch Point Park is a designated Great Florida Birding Trail site.

Parking at Bowditch Point Park

Parking fee is $2.00 per hour. Payment options include coins, bills, and most major credit cards. NO change is given or provided. Maximum vehicle length 20 feet, no trailer or vehicle trailer parking is permitted. Lee County Annual Parking Stickers are accepted.
